Daycare Director

Position Description:

The Director of A Children’s Place (ACP) is a full-time supervisory and administrative position in which the Director oversees and leads the overall operations of the daycare in conjunction with the Assistant Director, the ACP Committee, and under the direct supervision of the Head of Staff of First Presbyterian Church. A promising candidate for this position will demonstrate a robust sense of call, recognizing the vocational differences between being a classroom teacher and a Director of a daycare. Furthermore, they will be dedicated to developing their vocational skills as a leader, administrator, and supervisor.

The Director is responsible for being the outward face of ACP, interacting with staff, children, and families in a kind, confident manner; supervising, assessing, and facilitating training for all teachers and staff; designing and leading programming, overseeing implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans; enforcing ACP by-laws and policies; and ensuring all employees abide by the rules and regulations of New York State and any organization that provides funding to the program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Valid NYS Teaching Certification

  • At least 1 year of teaching experience and/or 1 year of supervisory experience

  • Ability to pass all required background checks and clearances

  • Must feel called to the childcare vocation, specifically the vocation of Childcare Director

  • Exhibits sound judgment, discretion, patience, and perseverance

  • Strong leadership skills and adaptability to best support staff and relate to parents

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The intention to grow ACP through teamwork, compassion, humility, and a commitment to excellence

  • Grant writing and administrative experience strongly preferred
