Welcome. We are glad you have found us on the web. It would make us even happier to welcome you in person. First Pres will surprise you. The wind of God's Spirit is blowing mightily through this congregation and showing us new ways of being the church in the twenty-first century, new ways of thinking and doing theology, new ways of sharing our lives in Christ with each other and with the world outside our walls.

We value tradition here but also genuinely embrace fresh expressions of our faith.

Religion and church often are caricatured negatively in press and media these days. First Pres is far different from those popular images. We heartily extend an invitation to you to "come and see."

Everyone is welcome here regardless of state, status, stature, or standing. We are God's children all.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind...and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39) is this church's animating scripture. We seek to share the compassion, justice, hope, and love we see and experience in Jesus the Christ by immersing ourselves in the life of our city. By forming partnerships and collaborative relationships with our neighbors, we seek to be leaven that God uses to make the "whole loaf" rise into a community of joy.

We support a variety of local partners with financial gifts and with our hands-on and hearts-in personal involvement and participation.

We embrace our neighbors far beyond our Jamestown community by supporting ministries of health, education, peacemaking, and community development through the Presbytery of Western New York, the Synod of the Northeast and the General Assembly mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
