Children & Youth Education
Children and youth are very important to us. For forty years, our primary mission within the community has been to offer a top-flight, loving, nurturing child care ministry called "A Children's Place".

Our Sunday School for children meets during the worship hour throughout the school year save for a few holiday Sundays.  Our children gather in the sanctuary with the worshiping congregation and participate through the children's sermon before being excused to attend an innovative and parent-led Sunday School experience.  Lessons often are in-sync with what is happening in worship in the sanctuary so that families meaningfully can share with each other the scripture and lessons of the day.

A midweek "God's Stars Choir" for children, which includes students from our neighborhood elementary school, is offered midweek by our gifted Minister of Music.

Adult Education Forum
First Pres offers a vigorous and vital Adult Education Forum on Sunday mornings at 9:30 throughout the school year.  This popular hour is host to Bible studies, theological conversations, DVD series and discussions, and gold-star quality presentations by gifted members of the congregation on such topics as "The Will of God" and "The Bible in Arts and Literature." Coffee and tea are offered and new participants always are gladly welcomed and assimilated.  Continuing our Christian formation in such a venue as this weekly teaching forum is so important to our continuing faith development and all are invited.

Short-term studies during the midweek also are offered from time to time and are announced on the website and in church print communications.

Our middle school and senior high youth gather on Sunday evenings and other times in our "First Pres Youth Group." Teams of First Pres adults who have a heart for youth and our pastor provide times of reflective theological conversations relevant to our young peoples' lives as well as a variety of other opportunities and activities. Our youth also are engaged in mission and, periodically, mission and study trips, like a recent one to the Mexico-Arizona border to experience the perils and pathos of immigration issues, are planned.

Friends of our youth always are welcome to participate in our youth group and worship.
